According to a report released by Ookla, South Africa has been cited as having the largest increase in mobile internet speed, reaching 52nd place in the international rankings.
Along with South Africa, other African countries have significantly improved their internet speed. The report emphasizes the importance of investing in internet infrastructure to improve internet speeds in Africa.
For example, MTN, one of the largest telecommunication companies in Africa, made an investment of more than 1 billion dollars in network expansion and acquisition of 4G and 5G frequencies in key markets which resulted in an average decrease of 22.5 percent in data rates.
